Leased vehicles
Shuttle Leased vehicles

A point to point transportation system will require seamless access to existing infrastructure. My suggestion is for the automotive companies to shift from selling cars designed to last for 200,000 kilometers to leasing vehicles designed to last for two million kilometers. These vehicles could be leased by simply swiping a credit card and drivers license and be distributed from within a few meters of the shuttle drop off area. If Detroit would stop blocking mass transit and start promoting it, the primary focus could shift from building cars to servicing leased vehicles. In an era where anything can be done in China for a quarter of the cost of doing it in the United States, what future can the automotive industry have if it continues to view its position as a competitor in the manufacturing arena?
